Renault protested by Motherhood

Paris - French automakers, Renault has made the parents outraged because naming a new electric car with the name 'Zoe'.

Anger of the couple to make a petition on the internet, which requires car companies to change the name of the product, to prevent the destruction of the meaning of a name 'Zoe' on their children.

"Our daughter is a beautiful name (Zoe) should not be associated with the car, so let us unite to demand that Renault will destroy this beautiful name for the sake of our children," said a petition launched by Sébastien Mortreux, as quoted timesonline.com , Wednesday (2/12/2009)

The commotion began when Renault launched a small electric car concept of their latest this month, Renault named Zoe. The company is hoping that Zoe will lead the world market in electric cars.

Zoe is now one of the most popular baby names of women in France. Zoe is expected to be a figure of fun, said Rebecca, one of the mothers who name their daughters by the name Zoe.

"I was shocked, really wrong that Renault had to take my daughter's name for a car that will be marketed," he wrote.

Renault said that there was no intention to insult in the name of choice. "This is a name that evokes femininity values, and refers to the concept of zero emissions," said Renault spokeswoman, Valerian David.

In fact, naming a car from a man is often the case, like a man in Germany, Emil Jellinek, who named his son 'Mercedes'. "I think people will be able to differentiate," he added.
