Hundreds of Ford and Ford FreeStar Defect Production Mercury Monterey

Detroit - The U.S. road safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating reports that hundreds of Ford and Ford FreeStar 2004-2005 Mercury Monterey apply allegedly defective transmission system that can be harmful.

As reported by autoblog.com, Wednesday (25.11.2009), many alarming reports coming, if transmission problems occur usually at high speeds.

In general complaint, the engine suddenly faltered unstable and then all of a sudden all the engine power will be lost. Imagine if it happened in the middle of the highway at high speed, how dangerous is not it?

Thus, the incident made the owner mad, especially with the cost of repair bills that amounted to U.S. $ 3500 and flooded the message board to report the incident.

Until now, there are 654 customer complaints and warranty claims 2791. However, according to the NHTSA, as many as 205,000 vehicles may experience the same incident if not immediately anticipated.

The investigation, expected to take one year, will focus on the konventer axle torque. Meanwhile, Ford Motor Co. has not released an official statement about the investigation.
